Actor and television host Luis Manzano shared that he is proud of his mother, Batangas 6th District Rep. Vilma Santos, who was among the few who voted in favor of renewing ABS-CBN’s franchise.

Manzano took to Twitter last night, July 10, to laud his mother despite the unfortunate outcome of his home network’s bid for franchise renewal.

“Love you Momski (heart emoji) Proud of you (heart emoji),” Manzano posted.

Seventy votes were cast in favor of adopting the technical working group’s (TWG) recommendation to deny the media giant a 25-year franchise, while only 11 representatives including Santos voted otherwise.

Following the result, Santos on the same day said she was surprised by how the voting turned out, telling ABS-CBN’s TeleRadyo that the network had a lot of supporters during the hearings prior to yesterday.

The decision, which was made amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, has since been met by criticisms from several groups, politicians, journalists and celebrities.  /ra
