Action star Robin Padilla may have been named as one of the possible senatorial bets of the PDP-Laban party last August, but Padilla has since quashed the possibility of him entering politics.
Padilla, in his reminiscence on social media last Oct. 11, shared that if his ninang, the late senator Miriam Santiago, were still alive, she would tell him he has no place in politics. Padilla said then, “Sasabihin niya sa mukha ko mismo na hindi ka nababagay sa Senado!” (She would tell me, right in my face, that I am not fit for the Senate.)
Aversion from politics aside, however, Padilla remains a staunch supporter of his older brother Rommel, who is also the father of his nephew Daniel Padilla.
Rommel was accompanied by Daniel yesterday, Oct. 16, to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) where he filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman in Nueva Ecija. Robin was also present during his brother’s COC filing and was the one behind the camera capturing scenes from the moment.
In a video he shared on Instagram today, Oct. 17, Robin showed his brother inside Comelec fixing the necessary paperwork while Daniel stood by him, watching on.
“Sumaiyo ang patnubay ng nag-iisang Dios, utol,” wrote Robin. (May the guidance of the one God be with you, brother.)

He, too, praised his nephew who he tagged in his Instagram post. As per Robin, everybody may have been blessed with a pure heart, but it is rare for someone to remain such in the face of success.

(Everyone is blessed with a pure heart but only a few in this world remain pure in spirit at the height of success. You are one of those, my nephew. That is why the Lord Creator’s blessings on you overflow.)
He also commended Daniel, for his love and trust for his parents were just as sweet as his love for the country.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Rommel will be running as an independent candidate against re-electionist First District Rep. Estrellita Suansing of PDP- Laban. The two are known supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte. At present, Rommel is a board member of the first district of Nueva Ecija. JB
